The laptop belonging to Hunter Biden, previously dismissed as Russian disinformation back in 2020, has been officially entered into evidence and confirmed by the FBI in his ongoing federal gun crime trial. The laptop, containing videos, photos, and business communications, was presented to the jury on Tuesday to support allegations that President Joe Biden’s son lied about drug use on a gun purchase form.

Initially reported by the New York Post, this laptop faced widespread skepticism when first disclosed but has since been authenticated by multiple news organizations.

Former New York Post deputy politics editor Emma-Jo Morris, who led the initial report, expressed her frustration with the story’s initial dismissal. Now with Breitbart News, Morris told Fox News Digital she has felt liberated in recent days despite the rejection of her story at the time.

Morris comments on the laptop issue in a recent interview.

Leading up to the 2020 presidential election, several media outlets decided to block coverage of the laptop story. Twitter, in particular, even went to the lengths of locking the New York Post out of its account. At the time, the laptop was believed by many as Russian misinformation.

Along with media outlets, several prominent figures, including Biden campaign spokeswoman Symone Sanders-Townsend and MSNBC contributors, labeled the laptop story as a potential Russian operation. These outlets justified their skepticism by saying the laptop’s hard drive was yet to be accessed, nonetheless verified.

A pivotal moment in media skepticism came in an interview with former President Donald Trump on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” where host Lesley Stahl asserted that there was no way for the laptop to be verified.

Soonafter, 51 former intelligence officials wrote a letter suggesting the similarities between the laptop and a Russian information operation, which greatly affected the public’s opinion. Then-candidate Joe Biden cited the letter during a presidential debate to dismiss the laptop’s link to his son.

After close investigation, the laptop contents revealed Hunter Biden’s business dealings and several illegal activities, including videos of drug use. These videos are evidence that he made false statements in the purchase of a gun, a crime that carries a maximum prison time of 25 years. Currently he has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
